    Running has really taken off this week, I have been getting the kms in. I have run more this week than I have in the past 4 months!! I think I have firmly found my mojo again. I have found a way to get my butt out the door or on the treadmill, I don't give myself the chance to over think things, I just get my kit on and go. Which makes sense. 😂. I am really just enjoying running again.

    I found a love for fitness 3 years ago, running marathons and races, obstacle races and weight training! Once you get started and find the motivation it actually becomes quite addictive, especially when you have something to work towards The last few months I've steered more towards weight training in the gym but my competitive side isn't fully fulfilled, so...... I'm back in running mode. What better way to start than with a year 2020 target? so.... my goal for this year is to run 1500k! Lets do this

    So this year has began okay. I have managed yo get 5km done running which is pretty poor, but a good 20km of all activities. So im in good shape to achieve my goal this year. I will be joining more medals this year as I will use this as added motovation yo get my ass out the door, it's suprising how much of a mental game running is. Often I find myself saying to myself 'i can't be bothered' or 'I will go tomorrow'. Well not this year. I am planning on running every other day at first until I get back into the swing of things. However I wont punish myself if I dont manage to get out, I will merely try and make up the Kms at a later date.

    I think this year is going to be a good year for my running.

    Last year I set myself the target of running 500km, i didnt complete this target. Near the end quarter of the year I gave up. I had a few injuries throughout the year but I was still on target. Then my head just went and I lost all willingness to run at all, in October I then broke my foot which...
    Last year I set myself the target of running 500km, i didnt complete this target. Near the end quarter of the year I gave up. I had a few injuries throughout the year but I was still on target. Then my head just went and I lost all willingness to run at all, in October I then broke my foot which ended my year of running completely.

    This year I am not going to let myself give up. I am aiming for 1000km distance for all activities and hopefully 750km of those will be running. I will be better this year. New year and new decade. This will be my year to prove to myself that I can push past the mental block and the physical pain and achieve what I thought was unachievable.

    This is my 2020 challenge to myself.

    I’ve done it! 1200 miles in 2019!
    Had to focus, especially the last few months but with virtual runs, races, supporting others, a marathon, a long social hash run and an advent streak, the miles clocked up and I made it! Gaining PBs in 5k 10k 10 mile and marathon along the way!
    Not sure I’d go for that distance again though 😂
    Well done to everyone else who also achieved their goals 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    A strong month to finish 2019 and successfully complete my challenge 😀

    My year in running 🏃 and cycling 🚴🏻‍♂️:

    Treadmill PB 5k = 23:07
    Treadmill PB 10k = 49:06
    Treadmill PB 10 Miles = 1:47:43
    Ran = 357.6 miles / 575.5km
    Cycled = 863.6 miles / 1389.8km
    Altogether = 1226.1 miles / 1973.2km over 127 workouts

    Also got some lovely medals throughout the year to keep me motivated and focused. ‏ — feeling happy

  • And I’m almost there!!! 4 miles tonight with my running group and I’m done! 1200 miles in 2019........ it’s been a struggle at times and a busy December squeezing in the last miles, but I’ve done it!!! (Almost!)

  • Yay I’ve done it, challenge completed. 22.5 miles this week, and I have broken 1500 miles for the year, 1513 in total. Took part in my Club Handicap Race yesterday & I came in second, pipped at the post & today took part in a social run which I rounded up to a Half Marathon. I have loved my running this year, smashed out loads of PBs, ran 30 races including 2 marathons, London was amazing. Next year is the year of the Ultras, something I never thought I’d even contemplate. Well done to everyone who has took part in the Now That’s What I Call a Challenge 2019, your all fab!

  • So I managed to do two more parkruns than I’d challenged myself to do, and one of those was on Christmas Day! Am still gutted that I didn’t get to do the half marathon but pleased about the Parkruns. I feel much more comfortable there than I did the first time I went. Off to Australia next year so booked myself in for a 10k and hope to do a couple of Parkruns there too!
