I challenge myself to go out and run at least 6 miles a week. I'm pretty motivated when training for half marathons (up to now I've always entered autumn ones) but I need to get out and get some runs in the rest of the time. Volunteering at parkrun is not an excuse to miss a run that weekend!!!

Nb On the occasion of snow, if this winter is anything like the last, then allowances can be made - as I live at the top of a hill I'm not risking the rest of this challenge by trying to run downhill on ice and snow ?

To continue regular strength and conditioning training. Learn Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for fitness and self defence.
Lift heavier - 100kg front and back squat by end of 2019
Improve clean technique
5 x Full body pull-ups in a row (from hanging position, no rest)
Attend BJJ class once a week

In October 2018 I tested at lifting the following:
75kg deadlift

I think I would struggle to do this now - maintain and improve for 2019!

Join me in my journey for 2019 as I try and improve my mental and physical health by loosing 50lbs in weight during 2019. The general aim to to loose at least 50lbs (more would be amazing) by decreasing my dependence on sugar and processed foods. I start January 1st so wish me luck!

Alongside this I am aiming to run my first full 10k this year. This on its own is a huge challenge for me as I currently can’t even run upstairs!! I am really looking forward to getting involved with running as I am hopeful that it may ease some of my mental health issues and really give me some mini goals to a for along the way.

The biggest incentive for all of this however is a trip to my favourite place on Earth, Disneyworld. The perfect place to celebrate with my family and enjoy the new me!!

Time is my biggest issue. I just can’t commit to running everyday when sometimes I’m out of the house for 16hrs at a time with different start and finish times and locations.
So, my challenge is to attend a Parkrun at least once a month for the whole year. However I also want to advance my distance and complete a half marathon this year, namely the great eastern run in October. Having not a lot of time to run this is going to be a massive challenge for me.

Following a long lay off after brain surgery, I need to start running again, with no races entered and 6 young children, motivation is needed to keep getting me out there!
I have set myself the modest target of just 500miles for the year, I would also like to hit the average of the 10miles in each week if I can. I am an oxymoron in that despite running the London Marathon I am lazy! I struggled to be motivated to train properly and have never actually hit my 'modest' target of 500miles since I started running in 2010.
So, here I am. Trying to find my feet again (literally, piled on the pounds!!) going for my first ever year long challenge and hoping to stick with it all the way to completion

Now That’s What I Call a Challenge 2019

My challenge for 2019 is to do 3,650,000 steps - averaging 10k a day, every day, for the year. I work a desk job so usually finish the day on max 6,000 steps.

My 2019 challenge is to also complete the couch to 5k app and start to run 2x a week.

By doing the above, I hope to lose 2 stone and improve my relationship with food and dieting.

Here’s to a healthier 2019! Good luck everyone

After becoming unwell over 3 years ago and having to have major surgery. I went from being extremely active to inactive. I have spent a long time being exercise free and gradually have became more and more unfit. This has also resulted in me piling on the pounds so for 2019 I want to make a change. I'm challenging myself to walk or run 1000 miles in a year (approximately 20 miles a week) and at the same time increase my fitness and hopefully lose some weight too (as part of Now that's what I call a challenge 2019).
