    I went to Parkrun on Saturday, my first run since the failed half marathon. I was nervous that I’d really struggle after 3 weeks off but thought I’d be less likely to give up at Parkrun than running alone. And I was right. Finished in just over 33, a minute or so slower than my Pb so happy with that.

    So today was the day of the half marathon. I’d had a good long sleep Friday night so I wasn’t too bothered that I kept waking up last night. I had everything out so was prepared although I didn’t feel it. The weather was awful, throwing it down, wasn’t sure what to wear, didn’t want to get too hot or cold so went for a T-shirt and a poncho that could be discarded when I warmed up but would keep me dry whilst waiting. Met a lot of lovely people since I was there alone, everyone was so friendly and supportive when I said it was my first.
    Half an hour after we were due to start they told us it was cancelled. Apparently someone behaving suspiciously near the course. Turned out to be a false alarm but damage done by then.
    So I will not fully complete this challenge though I will still be trying for those 12 Parkruns. Gutted is not the word.

    I’m so incredibly busy at the moment that my training is not getting the full attention that it needs or deserves. The half marathon is in four weeks and I’m already incredibly nervous. On the upside I managed to get to Parkrun yesterday and got a new pb!

  • So, I never made Parkrun in July so meant to do two in August, I did one the first day of the month.... and have just realised that due to previous commitments, I haven’t been since. My training plan calls for 8.5km on sat mon, not sure if I should get up early and do it and then go Parkrun or try n do two in September instead 🤷🏽‍♀️ Maybe will see how I feel in the morning.
    Training plan on bank holiday Monday said 13.5km but I only had a few days left to complete my Race the Express 9 3/4 medal so I did the full 16km. Legs are killing me but worth it!

    Second week of the Nike training done, felt weird only doing 1k one day however it was a 5min k as opposed to my usual 7min ks which could be why it wore me out so much! There doesn’t seem to be many actual long runs but then the only training plan I’ve ever used is C25k and that was all about increasing time not distance. Oh well I guess it’s just trust in the app! Am a little worried that Parkrun won’t fit into this app due to the distances they want me to run but we’ll see. Can always squeeze the missing days into the end of the year!

    I didn’t go to Parkrun. However on Wednesday I went out and did 5k and then used the Nike running app to set up a training plan for the half marathon (only 13 weeks to go I think!) Today was a benchmark run and those 3 minutes of pushing were so hard! However I am confident that this app will get me where I need to be and help me get my medals too!

    So! I’m terrible at updating this. After my 4.5k I meant to run again but didn’t until Parkrun. However a couple of days later I went out and pushed myself to do 9k. Took a few days break and then did the race for life 10k. Gave myself a couple of days rest and have kept meaning to go out but I’ve been so tired I’ve struggled to get up in the mornings. Was def gonna go out this morning but didn’t fall asleep til gone 1am. However it’s Parkrun day tomorrow so I’ll go to that and hopefully kick start some regular running again!

    After 4 weeks of no running I did 4.5k. It wasnt too bad. Not long til my 10k though so need to step it up a notch. My legs are killing though.

    Two park runs in a row!! And it could be a Pb. I think I ran faster overall however I was then too knackered to sprint finish so we’ll see!

    So on Saturday I did my my first run since the 10k but it was a park run! Yay! Gonna go sign up for the gauntlet and keep them 10ks coming!

    So Monday’s run didn’t happen. Alarm went off but it was 3 degrees and I was tired so I went back to sleep. However it was 8 degrees this morning and so I got up and did my 10k! That’s my X Files medal earnt! When I got home I signed up for the Race for Life 10k in June and the Great Eastern Run in October, no backing out now. Oh and it’s my year runniversary today!

    Ran 5k this morn. Was planning to do 10k but I could tell my body wouldn’t cope once I’d done 2k. Anyone else find it harder to breathe when it’s cold out? Will try again for the 10k on Monday when it’s hopefully warmer.

    Parkrun done! That makes 3 this year so I’m one behind but there’s plenty of time. And I’m hoping I might have got a semi decent photo out of it too. My face will be bright red, I can’t help that but I should be smiling! Def won’t be a Pb but was a comfortable run so I’m happy with that.

    Wow! It’s been a long time since I posted but that was purely because for some reason I completely forgot how to do it! Convinced myself I had diff log in details and everything!
    So... March has been a failure. I was due to go to my Parkruns 300th event but it wasn’t a good day and I knew I had two more Saturdays in March to go so wasn’t too worried. Then work sent me to Clacton so I stayed with my aunt n uncle on the fri night but then couldn’t go Parkrun. We did walk 16k over the two days though. Then work sent me to Newcastle the following weekend and I planned to fit in Parkrun but then decided it was a wiser use of my time to do two separate Go Ape courses whilst 3hrs away from instead! So I now need to do two parkruns in the same month to make sure I hit the 12! Hoping to go in the morning.
    My running in general has been a bit sporadic. Think I actually need to sign up for some races so I actually train. Should be better over the summer. Still aiming for the half marathon in October and then London marathon 2020!

    Ran 5k yesterday morning doing what I call the running Jeff and knocked 4secs off my village Pb (which is minutes away from my Parkrun Pb) and now I think I’ve come down with a cold. Typical.

    Did Parkrun today! I almost didn’t but one step at a time and I found myself there. Started too fast and thought I was going to quit at 1km but paced myself behind a lady who seemed to be doing a steady pace and made it through!

    Didn’t make Parkrun on sat as I had an impromptu trip to my friends house after work and stayed over so didn’t have my run stuff with me. I haven’t actually run in nearly two weeks. I need to get out there.
