I challenge myself to go out and run at least 6 miles a week. I'm pretty motivated when training for half marathons (up to now I've always entered autumn ones) but I need to get out and get some runs in the rest of the time. Volunteering at parkrun is not an excuse to miss a run that weekend!!!

Nb On the occasion of snow, if this winter is anything like the last, then allowances can be made - as I live at the top of a hill I'm not risking the rest of this challenge by trying to run downhill on ice and snow ?

Monday Shuffle on... well, Monday... 4.15 miles. Busy busy-Ness during the week, setting up, timekeeping and results processing at parkrun but a nice long run on Sunday. 1.82 to meet my pickup, then travelled to Bristol for a nice run along the River Avon 7.94 miles.

Thank you for the nice comments last week, just a bit of a shock to have not counted my miles to make sure I'd done them. Got a bit used to them just happening through my normal routine!

So, I've ruined my challenge What with my gran's 100th birthday and setting up a new parkrun, I completely forgot to do any running! Nothing on Monday as we were spending a quiet day with gran to recover from her birthday and then travelling back. Weds I did go to training (1.83 miles) so that was good. But then Saturday was Event 2 of our new parkrun and consumed my whole morning, though according to my Fitbit I'd walked 2.9 miles in getting there and setting up before 9am! It just wasn't running, and being on the core volunteer team I think it will be a few weeks before I get to run a parkrun again. Then on Sunday, we took our friends' dog for a walk (2.7 miles) before getting caught in a downpour. It rained for the rest of the day so we went to the pub for a Sunday roast (hence I can't go out and run the extra miles now - far too full!). Oh well, I'm back to half marathon training tomorrow (only 8 weeks to Cardiff as i was reminded today!!!) so will continue to aim for my 6 miles a week, hopefully this experience and the sick feeling I now have for mucking up will make sure I keep going for the rest of the year. It was after Cardiff that I stopped running for quite a while last year and I need this challenge to help me this year!
    Total distance (running) 1.83 miles
    Total distance (walking) 5.6 miles

Getting my log done early as I know there will be no running this week. Volunteering at parkrun tomorrow and then heading up the motorway to celebrate my gran's 100th birthday weekend!

So what with parkrun prep craziness and birthday prep madness I've only had time to fit one run in - 6.07 miles. Back to it next week when hopefully things return to normal!!

This has been one of those weeks that is the reason behind this challenge. Being in a running club and having entered 4 half marathons means I get a lot of mileage in but it would have been very easy to do no running this week.

The only evening I could run was at training on Weds. Great session, I ached the next day, but as it was the first session to ease our 0 to 5k graduates into it and was mainly relays so mileage was 1.12 miles.

No time for any long runs this weekend and volunteering at parkrun, if this was last year I'd have just taken the rest. But instead I got up early Friday morning and did 3.24 miles, forgot how nice and early morning weekday run is!. Then managed to squeeze in 2.42 miles on Sunday.

Recovery from last weekend's half marathon and a week off work (so no routine) meant no running during the week. But a spot of parkrun tourism (3.23) and a social run with Ross Runners (5.83) gave me some mileage.

On holiday this week and recovering from last week's half marathon. However, on Tuesday I was persuaded to sign up for another half, at the weekend!!! On Weds I went for a short run around where we were staying (3.1 miles). Then on Sunday I did my second half in 8 days (well, I had to go for a run that day anyway and it was local) - Dymock Half 13.11 miles.
