AUGUST SPOTLIGHT : PETE TOTT
Hey there fellow runners! I'm Pete, I'm 36 and I've been running for 4 years now, ironically I became a runner through drinking our favourite beverage... alcohol haha!
A half marathon was my first official race, I threw myself into the lions den, finished my first half with virtually zero training plus being a chunky monkey in 2hrs 45mins. Roll on 4 years, joined a running club, I've done a number of half marathons, a few 10k's, couple of Easter 10 miles races, a grim run, brutal 10k, Endure 24..... look it up if you are not sure what it is.
To date the furthest I have run is 36 miles conquering my 18 miles I did a year or so ago.
I'm not gonna lie I did loose my running mojo for 1 year didn't really do a lot lost the motivation...we all hit that wall at some point, don't be afraid of it, embrace it, you will come out a better person, well when it comes to running haha!
I'm also a keen cyclist, I've ridden the 3 counties 2 years in a row which is about 54 miles for fun, after the first attempt on a mountain bike and finding it so tough, I joined the road bike gang and my god I love it more now. I've also just recently cycled a 50 mile charity ride dressed as Spider-Man for the first 30 miles at least lol! We have raised about £400 for the rainbow trust society who help sick children, look them up such a remarkable charity, if you can spare a few pennies that would be awesome!
I think I've probably waffled on enough now, I will leave you with this bit of advice - enjoy your sport, wether that is running, cycling, swimming etc etc. Have fun, I love putting a smile on someone's face, don't worry about your finishing times it's always about the finish lines, your only competing with yourself.
