As I’m looking for a home for my 3rd medal I am wondering if there isn’t an alternative way to reward completing challenges. I love having a physical item but they are pretty chunky and must use up considerable resources. As I was researching a birthday present for my 8 hear old niece I came across charm bracelets where you have a basic bracelet and you add meaningful charms over time. There’s different types of base bracelet and a huge variety of charms to suit all kinds or areas (birth stones, horoscope, animals, places you’ve visited etc. I know there’s also similar systems for travelers where you get a leather base bracelet and you add disks to it with the name of the place you’ve visited on it. They look really smart and seem more unisex than bracelets.

It made me think that something like that would be a nice alternative for the medals. You purchase a base bracelet (or necklace) and you win a charm to add to it. That way you can carry your accomplishments with you, they take up less space and use less resources.

    Love to hear your thoughts

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. We have tried over the years a number of different rewards. These include mini medals, charms, T-shirts (recycled material) wooden medals and other bits. However the demand was not there to make it a thing and replace the traditional medal.

We are always keen to make sure we offer what the community would like and also looking at ways of making sure we use renewable, recycled materials and and keeping our environmental impact as low as possible.

At the moment it seems challengers really like receiving medals, but we are always open to new ideas etc.

Thank you for the suggestions and if we can determine there is the interest in this we will explore further.

    best wishes

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply. Sounds like there’s no market for smaller rewards at the moment, too bad.

Never thought of a bracelet with charms as reward but I think it’s a great idea.
