The New MedalMad App

The New MedalMad App Is Coming on 6th July 2026

We are delighted to announce that the brand-new MedalMad app will be released on 6th July 2026.

This is a major milestone for MedalMad and one we are incredibly excited to share with our community. The new app has been designed to make taking part in challenges easier, clearer, and more motivating, while also giving us more flexibility to develop new features in the future.

For us, this is not just another update. This is the fourth version of the MedalMad app, and for the first time, it is 100% built in house.

That means we now have far more control over the platform, the features, the improvements, and the future direction of the app.

A Smoother Challenge Experience

The new app has been created to make your challenge journey easier from start to finish.

Submitting activities is simpler, tracking your progress is clearer, and the overall app experience has been improved to help keep you motivated.

One of the biggest improvements is the way your avatar now works on your challenge map. Your avatar becomes the main character and moves through the map as you complete your activities. You can expand the map, zoom in, and quickly see where your avatar is heading next.

We have also added a Street View feature for real-world challenge locations. This allows you to see where you would be in the real world as you progress. If Street View loads blank, this simply means Street View is not available in that location. For fictional challenges, Street View will not be available.

Tracker Syncing and Activity Tracking

At launch, Strava will continue to be available as before.

The new app also allows you to choose which tracker you want to sync with each challenge. This gives you more control over your activity submissions and how your progress is recorded.

We are also working on adding Google Health, which will be introduced once approval has been received and the connection has been fully checked.

Please remember that the app tracker uses your phone’s own tracking system. We do not store, see, or identify your location. We only take the information provided by your phone and add it to your challenge.

Social Feed, Friends, and Motivation

The new app includes a simpler social feed where members can share their progress, achievements, and challenge updates.

You can follow your friends and receive updates when they complete challenges or submit activities. You can also race your friends, allowing you to compare progress and use a little friendly competition as motivation.

We know motivation can make a huge difference, and these new features are designed to help you stay engaged and connected throughout your challenge.

Introducing Monthly Challenge Cards

Challenge Cards are a brand-new way to track your monthly stats.

Each month, you will receive a new card based on your activity. The ratings shown on the card are scored out of 100 and are based on your current month’s challenge activity.

You can store your cards, share them, compare them with friends, and even battle friends to see who can create the best monthly card.

It is a fun, simple way to celebrate your progress and keep yourself motivated.

Orders, Codes, and Future Features

The new app also includes an improved orders section, where you can view orders and enter codes more easily.

There are also major background improvements that will help us as a small business. These systems will make it easier for us to support the app, release improvements, and add new features.

Going forward, new features will be released through the new app only. This includes better videos, better quizzes, and other exciting features already in development that we hope to release over the next six months.

Important Update Information

The new app will be released on 6th July 2026.

Please be aware that some phones may automatically update apps. If you do not want the MedalMad app to update immediately, you may need to turn off automatic updates for MedalMad on your device.

From 6th July, the old system and new system will not sync with each other.

You will still have access to the old system through the website and “My Challenges” for a few months if you wish to continue using that platform to complete your existing challenges. However, once you install or update to the new app, any activity submitted through the new app will only appear on the new system.

If you do not update to the new app, the old app will be deactivated on 1st August 2026, and you will need to update in order to continue using the app.

Any activity submitted on the old system between 6th July and 1st August will not transfer to the new system. For this reason, we highly recommend updating to the new app straight away once it is released, unless you are planning to complete your current challenge fully on the old platform.

Keeping MedalMad Affordable

We know times are tough for everyone, including small businesses and the people employed by them.

Over the last few years, costs have increased significantly for small businesses. We have worked hard to reduce our costs wherever possible and avoid unnecessary price increases.

There may be small price increases in the future, but our aim is to keep these to an absolute minimum.

We are often compared with other challenge providers, but MedalMad remains around 30–50% cheaper per challenge, and we want to keep it that way wherever we realistically can.

The new app will also allow us to reduce some ongoing monthly system costs, which will help us continue offering affordable challenges.
